Vitamin D is not a vitamin, and it does not act as a vitamin in our bodies.
Vitamin D is really a hormone, made inside our bodies, without any help from the sun.
It must be metabolized by our bodies to become a more hormonlly-active form within our liver and kidney.
Once metabolized in this way, vitamin D can then provide its most important function: to aid in the intestinal absorption of calcium.
